THE BLUEPRINT OF BREASTFEEDING

ONLINE COURSE

taught by Luka Barba

March 23 - April 9, 2026

This course offers an in-depth exploration of breastfeeding through the lens of physiology, Birth Imprints and a holistic approach to oral ties. This is a fusion of all my Deeply Rooted offerings of the last decade, in service to hundreds of babies.

As a Certified Lactation Educator Counselor, Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapist, Pre and Perinatal Educator, and a mama who breastfed for 5 years, I’ve designed this course for both parents and pediatric practitioners (i.e bodyworkers, doulas, midwives, chiropractors, etc.) who are interested in:

  • Understanding the foundations of breastfeeding

  • Learning to recognize invaluable cues

  • Gaining insight into distinguishing ties from tension and other factors

Mothers & fathers, this knowledge is the key to setting yourselves up for success. Practitioners and birthworkers, you'll get a better understanding of what is presenting, and will be able to give breastfeeding advice with confidence while also being able to see the issues and concerns at hand through several lenses, truly understanding what the baby is trying to communicate.

This is a truly unique course!

What others have said

" As a mother and one who tends to the spaces of birth and the postpartum, this course really allowed me to shift my perceptions of what is unfolding inside the intimate journey of breastfeeding for mothers and babies. Luka brings a warm, nurturing and very practical and embodied depth of knowledge - learning with her has given me more confidence to serve the mothers and families I meet. In this course you will learn how to safeguard the beginnings of any breastfeeding journey and get a beautiful glimpse into what babies are expressing by way of their bodies and their time at the breast. I highly recommend this course for any expecting mother or anyone who serves the continuums of birth and new life."

– Alli

"Luka is a wealth of knowledge. Her Blueprint of Breastfeeding course is filled with useful information for both new mothers as well as any professional in the field of supporting women. Her years of experience offers a unique prospective that I have yet to see anywhere else. I look forward to the opportunity to study with her again"

— Annie H

"Luka’s work is unique and essential because of the breadth of modalities and experience that she weaves together. Blueprints of Breastfeeding is an introduction to just how complex and multi-layered breastfeeding truly is, and how difficulties can be explored and resolved not only holistically, but multi-dimensionally - considering the physiological, anatomical, emotional, cultural and contextual factors that can play into a mother and baby’s breastfeeding experience. This class is as appropriate for practitioners deepening their perspective as it is for parents seeking a deeper understanding of their babies. In a landscape that is becoming increasingly black-and-white, I deeply value the nuance and compassion that Luka brings to her teaching."

— Kesia Nagata

Luka’s perspective of breastfeeding was a needed complement to my initial lactation training as a CLEC. As a student of midwifery, understanding deeper layers of how birth affects breastfeeding and how we can help unravel the stories to help babies and mothers toward a more open, relaxed, and receptive state is paramount. Every midwife or lactation consultant should have an understanding of these critical concepts. Luka distills information down in such a way that it easy enough to understand for a new mother, but deep and intricate enough for birth workers to also grow in understanding as well.

— Amanda Johns (INNATE Postpartum Practitioner, Prenatal & Postpartum Nutrition, Lactation Educator & Counselor, Holistic Doula/ Student of Midwifery)

Luka Barba founded Deeply Rooted Healing Traditions in order to serve the women and families of her community by providing the traditional care so often absent during the powerfully transformative postpartum period. By following the wisdom of generations of women around the world, Luka is able to uplift, empower and support new mothers as they bring life into our world.

By bringing her training and ancestral intuition to the forefront, Luka honors the sacredness of birthing and the postpartum period, and helps her clients tap into their own intuition and  forgotten capabilities, allowing them to heal and thrive. Her work with mothers, newborns and families uplifts and supports them physically, psychologically, emotionally, and spiritually.

At the foundation of Luka’s work is a focus on generational and lineage healing as she helps clients integrate and somatically process birth imprints (also referred to as birth trauma). Integrating these experiences allows individuals to avoid passing traumatic experiences forward into their future experiences as well as into future generations.

This work is Luka’s calling in this lifetime. Her medicine to the world. The birth of her two daughters, ignited this Remembrance and True Knowing. Her desire to create a full spectrum care for women and babies led her to becoming a UCSD Certified Lactation Educator + Counselor, Registered Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapist (specializing in Mom and Newborns), Holistic Tongue Tie Specialist, Certified Innate Postpartum Care Provider, and as of 2023, Assistant Teacher to Innate Postpartum training. As well, as steep herself in the wisdom and practices of traditional communities such as belly binding, yoni steaming, Abdominal Womb Massage. Luka is currently enrolled as a member of the Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy Association of North America (BCTA/NA) and has been studying from pioneers of Pre and Perinatal Psychology since 2016, as it’s been one of her passions and continues to this day. Luka is an educator for the Association for Prenatal and Perinatal Psychology and Health (APPPAH), PPNE and a Somatic Trauma Practitioner. Studying under, Anna Chitty, owner and founder of Colorado School of Energy Studies.

Luka’s dedication to her work is on behalf of the birthing mothers, their babies, families, communities, and to Earth Mother herself.

The Blueprint of Breastfeeding presents information in a way that teaches you to navigate the complexities of the breastfeeding experience for both mother and baby. It offers so much beyond just memorizing information and data, which is how most of "lactation education" is presented, completely omitting the practical, real-life applications. That information based delivery is, in my experience, why so many people are not getting the help they need from well-intended "certified", well educated practitioners. The unique nuance is so often overlooked, but Luka teaches in a way that helps you actually APPLY the information and this is what has been missing from mainstream breastfeeding education.

This course has the feel of a mentorship; she shares from real-world, real-time, real-person experience about how you actually work with the families you are supporting. If you are someone who feels like despite the studying you've done and information you have in your head, you still don't feel effective or confident in supporting your clients, Luka's course bridges that gap in a big way.

Luka does a great job of explaining the complex, multilayered aspects of the breastfeeding relationship and shows you how to pull it all together. This is the type of course that would benefit everyone, from the very beginner to the experienced lactation professional. As a Lactation Consultant who has supported thousands of dyads, has taken so many different courses and worked with a variety of other practitioners over the years, I can say that this course is what I wish everyone supporting breastfeeding families would take.
